OAU Post-UTME Update: Registration Open, Cut-Off 200 & Screening Dates Confirmed

OAU Post-UTME Update: Registration Open, Cut-Off 200 & Screening Dates Confirmed

Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has officially opened registration for its 2025/2026 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening. The university’s UTME cut-off remains 200 for all degree programmes. Registration opened in July and closes in late August; screening will take place in early September. Below you’ll find step-by-step guidance, key dates, eligibility rules, fees, and helpful tips to make your OAU application smooth and successful.

Who is eligible to apply?

  • UTME candidates: You must have chosen OAU as your first choice in the 2025 UTME and scored 200 or above to be eligible for the Post-UTME screening. eportal.oauife.edu.ng

  • Direct Entry (DE) candidates: DE applicants may also register; their registration window was announced separately, and DE candidates will mainly go through document verification rather than an additional exam. admissions.oauife.edu.ng

  • Awaiting O-level results: Candidates who are still awaiting O-level results may register, but must upload their results as soon as they are available. eportal.oauife.edu.ng

Key dates you must note

  • Registration window (UTME & DE): Registration opened in July and runs through 24 August 2025. Candidates must complete registration within this period to ensure they receive their screening schedule.

  • Screening schedule release: Candidates were advised to check their profiles on the OAU admissions portal from 27 August 2025 to view their allocated screening date.

  • Screening exercise: The Post-UTME screening is scheduled to run from 1–5 September 2025 (online allocation and activity across those dates).

Put simply: register before 24 August, check the admissions portal from 27 August for your specific slot, and be ready for screening from 1 September to 5

Cut-off mark & what it means for you

OAU’s JAMB cut-off mark is 200 for all undergraduate courses. This is a firm requirement—candidates who scored below 200 are not eligible to register for OAU’s Post-UTME screening even though the national minimum may be lower. If your UTME score is below 200 and you really want OAU, consider strategic options such as changing to a less competitive course (via JAMB) or pursuing alternative pathways like JUPEB/Direct Entry later on.

Fees & payment details

  • Screening fee: ₦2,000 (plus any applicable portal/e-charge). Candidates should expect a small e-portal access fee in addition to the screening fee. Payments should be made through the official OAU admission portal—avoid third-party agents. admissions.oauife.edu.ngeportal.oauife.edu.ng

How to register — step-by-step

  1. Create/log in to your account on the OAU admissions portal: admissions.oauife.edu.ng. (Use the portal to register and view your screening schedule.) admissions.oauife.edu.ng

  2. Complete the online form with accurate details (UTME Reg. No., JAMB score, O’level records, contact info).

  3. Upload required documents where requested (O-level results, passport photo, and any DE credentials). Candidates awaiting O-level results may upload later. eportal.oauife.edu.ng

  4. Pay the screening and portal access charges via the payment options on the portal.

  5. Check your dashboard from 27 August for your allocated screening date and instructions.

If you need to access the university’s e-portal directly for the screening interface, use the OAU e-portal: eportal.oauife.edu.ng. eportal.oauife.edu.ng

What to expect at screening

  • Online screening: The university will run the screening exercise across scheduled days. Expect instructions on verification of your uploaded documents, and for some courses, there may be a CBT component or a structured scoring formula (UTME score + O-level + screening performance). eportal.oauife.edu.ng

  • Document verification: Ensure scanned copies of your O-level results and other credentials are legible—errors or missing documents can delay processing.

  • No agents necessary: OAU emphasises that all payments and verifications should be completed via the official portal; do not rely on third parties.

Tips to maximise your chances

  1. Register early: Avoid last-minute issues—big portals sometimes slow down near closing dates.

  2. Double-check your course choice: If your UTME subject combination or O-level subjects don’t match course requirements, change course in time via JAMB rather than risking disqualification.

  3. Upload clear documents: Blurry scans can lead to rejection or requests for resubmission.

  4. Keep proof of payment and registration receipts until the admission process is complete.

  5. Monitor your email and the admissions portal from 27 August for your screening schedule and any updates or addenda.

Common questions answered

Q: I scored below 200 in JAMB. Can I still register?
A: No. OAU’s cut-off for UTME candidates is 200; you are not eligible to register for the Post-UTME screening if you scored below this mark.

Q: When will DE candidates be screened?
A: DE registration commenced earlier, and DE candidates will largely undergo document verification rather than additional exams—check the DE section on the admissions portal for details. admissions.oauife.edu.ng

Q: What if I miss the registration deadline?
A: Missing the deadline (24 August) typically disqualifies you from the current year’s screening. If there are extensions, OAU will announce them on the admissions portal—don’t rely on hearsay. admissions.oauife.edu.ng

Final thoughts

OAU remains one of Nigeria’s most competitive universities; the 200 cut-off mark reflects its high demand and academic standards. If you meet the cut-off, register immediately, follow the portal instructions closely, and prepare for the screening window starting 1 September. If you fall short this year, use the time to strengthen your profile and explore alternative routes into the university (JUPEB, IJMB, direct entry, or changing course where appropriate).
